Meredith DiPaolo Stephens |
Some of my favorite memories of raising my four children come from our bedtime routine. They were so young - ages 2, 6, 8, and 10 - but, like me, they loved a good story. It took a while because those silly kids kept falling asleep, but over time I read aloud to them The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I made up voices for the hobbits and the trees and all the creatures - it was their favorite part. We laughed so hard - I think they thought I was pretty silly too.
Like my children, I’ve been a story lover all my life. From my earliest memory of learning to read the Berenstain Bears’ The Big Honey Hunt to my first Shakespeare theatre production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream when I was 10 to my undergraduate English degree, I learned to love getting lost in a book, entering imaginary worlds where I could be anyone and do anything for just a little while.
So I decided to make storytelling my life’s pursuit. Today, I’m a classically trained actor, director, and writer with an MFA in Acting from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and dozens of stage, screen, and radio credits to my name.
The stories I love to tell are real stories about real people doing the hard work of being human in an increasingly inhumane world. No matter the genre, the common thread that pulls at my heart is each character’s need to live and love and survive and sometimes die while struggling to be in harmony with their circumstances.
Meredith currently lives in North Carolina with secondary bases in NYC, Glasgow, and London. She is a member of SAG-AFTRA, Actors Equity Association, and Equity UK.

...singularly etched, giving one of the finest performances vocally....”
